Recent buzz in Linux distributions
Linux kernel 2.6.37.There had been three major updates to the Linux universe in recent months. The first of them was the release of Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” on last February. Then -a second vibe- we received openSUSE 11.4 and most recently was released CentOS 5.6.
Let’s take a look in these distributions.
Debian 6.0

Debian 6.0 "Squeeze"
Last February was released Debian 6.0. Major improvements to this distribution includes:
- Kernel 2.6.32 including only free content. Firmware non-free can be added from certain repositories.
- Gnome 2.30, KDE SC 4.4.5, Xfce 4.6 y LXDE 0.5.0.
- Python 2.6.6, Python 2.5.5 as well as Python 3.1.3.
- Perl 5.10.1 and PHP 5.3.3.
plus OpenOffice.org 3.2.1, Iceweasel 3.5.16 and Icedove 3.0.11 web browsers.

openSUSE 11.4

openSUSE 11.4
openSUSE 11.4 was released March 10th, 2011. This GNU/Linux distribution is mostly used as a home/office Linux distribution; however, it is also a good solution for servers.
These are some features of openSUSE 11.4:
- Linux kernel 2.6.37.
- Gnome 2.32, KDE Plasma Workspaces 4.6 and XFCE 4.8.
- Firefox 4.
- LibreOffice 3.3.1 (it substitutes to OpenOffice).
- Python 2.7 and Python 3.1
- Improved virtualization.

CentOS 5.6

CentOS 5.6
CentOS is a GNU/Linux distribution mostly used in servers. It is based on Red Hat Enterprise sources but without its branding. CentOS 5.6 includes many improvements in security. Moreover, it comes with Ext4 filesystem ready for production usage.
